Gillian Joseph is a Guelph-based artist whose work invites viewers to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, capturing fleeting moments of light, texture and emotion that often go unnoticed.   For over ten years, she has explored the expressive possibilities of acrylic, watercolour, and charcoal, creating works that play with contrast, light, and feeling. Her recent focus on “black and white with a touch of colour” captures moments of quiet intensity - each piece inviting viewers to pause and discover beauty in simplicity.

 

Alongside painting, Gillian creates paper art and handcrafted wreaths that bring new life to familiar materials. She works with recycled music scores and books, handmade textured papers, ribbons, and wallpaper, using them or shaping them into elegant, tactile designs. Her mixed-media approach celebrates texture, balance, and sustainability, revealing the often hidden nature of paper and pattern.

 

Gillian shares her work through her Guelph studio, Gillian Joseph Art and Craft, and sells her original paintings, prints and cards at the Guelph Artisan Shop. Whether on canvas or paper, her creations reflect a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and curiosity—inviting others to see how art can turn the simplest materials into something quietly extraordinary.
